Saturday 26th March is the date for a full concert in St Dunstan's Church by Cranbrook School's gifted and talented singers, The Elizabeth Consort.

The Elizabeth Consort was set up in September 2010 to provide gifted and talented singers in Cranbrook School with the opportunity to be exposed to some of the best choral music, perform and develop their skills. The group has already performed at various school related and external events, including the Wealden Midwinter Fair last December, the advent service and late night Christmas shopping in Cranbrook. In the future there are plans for a tour alongside the main school choir to the south of France and a confirmed date to perform evensong in Canterbury cathedral.

They are now preparing for a full concert on Saturday 26th March in St. Dunstan’s Church at 7.30pm. The performance will last no more than one hour and entry to this event is free (any donations collected will be in aid of the Friends of St. Dunstan’s).

The programme honours the school’s Tudor roots (and indeed the group’s name) by offering a selection of well-known 16th century pieces from composers such as William Byrd, Gregorio Allegri and Thomas Tallis. In contrast to this Renaissance core, they will also perform pieces from across the centuries right up to arrangements of modern pop songs by The Beatles and Billy Joel.

The Elizabeth Consort is pleased to be joined by a number of instrumental and vocal soloists from the school who will intersperse the singing, including their own director of music Mr Malcolm Riley.

They very much hope you will join them for this evening of some of the best choral music there is.
