Cranbrook road rage youth given a tag

Cranbrook resident, Edward Pantrey, 19, who repeatedly punched his friend in a fit of road rage has been given a curfew.

Edward Pantrey pleaded guilty to assaulting Theo Chantler during an incident in Pembury Tesco car park on August 2.

Sevenoaks Magistrates' Court heard the defendant and victim had been travelling along the A21 together on motorbikes.

Prosecutor James Nichols said: "When the pair pulled over at Tesco the victim said he felt someone punching his crash helmet. He turned round and saw it was the defendant. He punched him about 10 times."

When Mr Chantler took off his helmet, Pantrey, 19, of Fairview, Cranbrook, punched him in the mouth, resulting him losing a tooth, the court heard.

Defending, Brian Ferris said his client had "overreacted" after an incident earlier when Mr Chantler had overtaken a lorry, forcing it to brake hard with Pantrey behind it.

He added: "He accepts he overreacted but it was very bad driving on the part of Mr Chantler."

The court also heard how Pantrey was cautioned in July for assault.

Magistrates ordered that he pay £250 compensation, be fitted with a tag for three months and pay £85 in costs.
